Introduction

BeingAliveLanguage GH is a Grasshopper plugin for creating computational diagrams of soil relevant living systems, developed by the research group Chair of Being Alive at ETH Zurich to enhance multidisciplinary communication.

This software features a set of computational components, for both simulation and visualization purposes, to create visual diagrams of soil-related information, including soil separates, soil water contents, soil-root interaction, organic matter distribution, and soil-climate transition, based on a series of research conducted at the Chair of Being Alive.

This software is the corresponding part of the paper BeingAliveLanguage: Visualizing soil information from a design perspective to enhance multidisciplinary communication, which introduces the conceptual foundation and initial implementation of the plugin. A newly published paper, BeingAliveLanguage: An Integrated Digital Framework for Understanding and Designing with Living Systems in Landscape Architecture, further expands on its development and application in design research. The plugin is currently under active development and continues to evolve alongside ongoing research.
